Powder River Success
In the ever challenging environment of reducing operational expenditures, WWT has helped one operator in the Wyoming’s Powder River Basin achieve just that!
Client challenge
Reduce drilling torque, increase weight transfer, mitigate drill pipe wear while reducing mud costs.
Our solution
WWT ’s SS3 500 NRPs placed in open hole across the nudge, curve and lateral sections.
Results
Over the past four years, SS3 500 N on across the Rotating Protectors have been deployed across more than 20 wells for a single operator . The primary objective of this implementation was to mitigate elevated drilling torque encountered in abrasive formations. In addition to successfully lowering drilling torque, the protectors delivered several noteworthy secondary benefits, including a marked reduction in drill pipe tool joint wear, decreased DBR charges, and substantial cost savings in water based mud systems due to reduced reliance on chemical friction reducing additives. Allowing for not only increased lateral footage to be drilled but setting in the area / formation.
