WWT Slider-Clamp Helps Provide a Smooth ESP Run in Difficult Conditions — Again
Well Basics:
- Running electric submersible pumps (ESP) on a shallow ERD well.
- Pumps set in the horizontal section with 2,000 ft TVD and 5,000 ft horizontal displacement.
- 2-7/8” and 3-1/2” tubing with round ESP cable.
- Several previous ESP runs on adjacent wells experienced difficulties due to buckling and drag, with 0.35–0.40 FF during ESP runs.
- Drilling rig used.
Results:
- Analysis performed using WWT-developed buckling models.
- A total of 80 WWT Slider-Clamps were run at the bottom of the string.
- Operator had no issues running the ESP to bottom.
- As-drilled data shows sliding friction was reduced by approximately 50% where WWT Slider-Clamps were installed.
