WWT Slider-Clamp Low-Friction Cable Protector

WWT Slider-Clamp Helps Provide a Smooth ESP Run in Difficult Conditions — Again

Well Basics:

  • Running electric submersible pumps (ESP) on a shallow ERD well.
  • Pumps set in the horizontal section with 2,000 ft TVD and 5,000 ft horizontal displacement.
  • 2-7/8” and 3-1/2” tubing with round ESP cable.
  • Several previous ESP runs on adjacent wells experienced difficulties due to buckling and drag, with 0.35–0.40 FF during ESP runs.
  • Drilling rig used.

Results:

  • Analysis performed using WWT-developed buckling models.
  • A total of 80 WWT Slider-Clamps were run at the bottom of the string.
  • Operator had no issues running the ESP to bottom.
  • As-drilled data shows sliding friction was reduced by approximately 50% where WWT Slider-Clamps were installed.
